The Amaryllis Opening

Today I have another blog to do with my Amaryllis. I took photos over the last week as my Amaryllis was opening, basically to show you how it slowly opens up. Once it is fully opens I will have a final Image for you. It is always fun to see such a showy  flower opening and so sad to see it finally fade when it is finished blooming, but that won’t be for another 2 weeks. Here is the series of photos that I took for all of you to see. I hope you all will enjoy the photos.

More Amaryllis photos

By now your are probably getting sick of seeing Amaryllis photos, but I don’t have to much else right now, to talk about. These Amaryllis are so nice to see, with the cold outside right now. It is sunny today but it is also –16C, so it is very nice to have a plant the is ready to flower. Well here are some photos for those that are interested.

My Amaryllis and Clone Babies

Hello everyone, I thought I would have a blog today about my Amaryllis plants. Summer Breeze from the UK asked about the Amaryllis plants and how to work with them. She has been given 2 Amaryllis (one white, one red), and as she has never had one before, needed some advice. The Amaryllis plant is a very easy plant to work with and the reward is a beautiful bounty of wonderful flowers, one to two pods of flowers, with 4 to 5 flowers per pod. And they are very awesome to see. My White Amaryllis is giving me 2 pods and at least one of its clone babies is sending out a flower pod. This fall I will have to separate the clone babies from the mother. It will also give me a chance to repot the momma plant. I will take out all of my Amaryllis into the garden so they can soak up all of the sun that they can before they go dormant for a couple of months. I will then take them out into the light before Christmas. Here is a couple of photos of my Amaryllis.

Our Crazy Weather

Well, now our weather has changed and we got some rain this morning. Thank goodness we are having a warm spell, so our streets are not so bad right now, but wait till tonight. There will be a lot of accidents, hope the sanders will be out tonight, I won’t be going anywhere tonight. No photos of our weather today so I have put together a Valentines image for you. I am seeing windows with Valentine stickers showing up everywhere, I imagine the kids are getting all excited about Valentines day.

Windrow of Snow

I thought I would show you the windrow of snow that the graders have piled up (for the 3rd time) in the middle of the road. There is a five foot medium between the two roads. There are trees planted in the medium to make the street look nice in the summer. These poor trees have to tolerate the snow that is being pushed up against them and then removed. I shot this photo this morning through my bedroom window, unfortunately this window is screened, but you can still see everything quite well. Here is the photo.

All that pushed up snow only leaves one and a half lanes for driving. Hope they take it away soon.

My Babies update

Hey everyone, just thought I would show you how big my Amaryllis babies have gotten. Oh, it seems that there has been so little sun these days and the buildup of snow on the windows, that the adult Amaryllis, that I have are not blooming. They are even loosing their leaves. Ok, back to the babies, they are growing but have stalled a little, because of the lack of light and the huge amount of snow on the windows. Here is a photo I took a few days ago, notice the snow on the window.

Snow Snow Snow

Well, as the title says, we have been getting a lot of snow. It is hard to describe the amount of snow we have gotten but it is a lot. It is very hard to get around now because of all the snow. We have gotten about 2 feet of snow in the last 30 hours, I have shoveled my car out of a snow bank, where it was parked on the front street, just to almost get stuck in my parking spot. Our parking lot was just cleaned last week, and needs to be cleaned again. I had to push my door open this morning in order to squeeze thought and shovel so I could get the door fully open. My hip and back are killing me with pain from all this shoveling. My backyard is so full of snow, I am not sure where to put it all if more snow comes.  I took a few shots from my front and back door to show you what I mean.

My front is almost the same, where the truck is, is where I was stuck. That truck looks    like a four wheel drive.
