My Friend Russ

Merry Christmas to all, my friend Russ and I went to Bud’s Lounge for Karaoke. Russ loves to sing and was singing some Christmas Carole’s when I decided to take some photos of him, while he was singing.  Russ was even handing out some Christmas candy that night.A lot of fun was had by all. There were a lot of good singers out that night, have some good tidings, and also a lot of good looking young ladies. To bad I’m so old. :-)  So here are a couple of photos of Russ singing.

Chick a Dee feeding in Blizzard

Today I was going to go out and get a few items from the store but low and behold, I woke up to a blizzard, nothing else to do but stay home and cruise the net and oh yes take a few shots of those little critters at my home made feeder. Seems to work well and the Sparrows have not figured out how to use it. I was surprised that the Chickadees were active on a day like today, so I just had to take a few photos through my window. We have had snow every day for 3 days, so far. But today the wind was gusting at 30 klm’s an hour. Lots of snow drifting and the news say that there are lots of accidents and people in the ditches. The police say for people to stay home and not drive anywhere if you don’t have to. I hope everyone stays warm today. Well here are some photos.

They also collect food for the Food Bank for the more unfortunate people that can’t afford to by food for themselves. I hope you enjoy the photos, There is house near my house that out dose them all. I did not get a chance to photograph this house yet, but will show you in a few days or so. Here are the photos of Candy Cane Lane.

Christmas Songs

I posted some Christmas songs below of a Young Heintje, Some of you may remember him in the late 60’s and the early 70’s. When I first heard him I was amazed at his voice and his wonderful Christmas songs. I guess when his voice broke he was not in much demand, and he faded away. Well I was thinking of Christmas music and he came to mind and I started searching and found a few of his Christmas songs and thought I would post them so others could here this fellow when he was young. Some may like him some may not. Let me know what you think.

Some Birds at my Feeder

Today I took a few images of the birds that frequent my feeder. Most of them are Sparrows and they hog the feeder until all the seeds are done. Some other birds come closer to dusk and dawn, as most of the Sparrows are not around at that time. I think these are Timberline Sparrows but I could be wrong. If I get any different types of birds I will post them as I photograph them. So here are some Sparrow photos.

November 05 2010

Yesterday, I went and got my shots for the flu and also a shot for pneumonia. The good looking nurse,  said that the flu shot would not be a problem, unless I have an allergy problem.  I have had many flu shots in the past so I knew everything would be ok with that shot. I got a shot in each arm, the pneumonia shot in the left arm and the flu shot in the right arm. Over night, I started to feel my left arm get sore, so every time I turned over I felt my arm, and I turn over a lot at night. This morning, I felt like someone had hit me in the arm, the good looking nurse said that my arm might feel sore with the pneumonia shot, well she was right. I checked my arm in the mirror to see if it may be red around the injection site, and no everything seemed ok. I guess it is just the little war that is going on in my arm, the little white blood cells, attaching the invasion from the injection. Well I know that in a week or two I will be safe from the latest flu’s and pneumonia viruses that are going around. 25 years ago I got every darn flu that was going around, I was sick 3 to 4 times a year and I tell you that was a real drain on me. I basically have been getting the flu shots since they have been available, and since then, I have not had the flu very often. There are many people out there that don’t believe in immunization, well that is up to them, but I sure believe in them. So if you believe in them go get your shots, you will be healthier  for it.

Bird Feeders at Hawrelak Park

I would love to take some photos of birds, I have a bird feeder in my back yard but as soon as I come outside these birds fly away. I here that there are Bird feeders at Hawrelak park, but have no idea where they are. I have a real problem walking, so if anyone knows where the feeders are at Hawrelak park please let me know. The park is very big and a really nice place to visit the wildlife. I have gotten some very nice shots by chance, but the small birds are a real challenge. I will even bring some bird seeds with me.
    The big search copy
I would love to photograph so of the smaller birds that visit the park, like chic-a-dee’s or Nuthatch  or what ever else I can photograph.

Thanksgiving Day Country Drive

Hello everyone, I am a little late in posting but as we all say, it is better late than never. On Thanksgiving Day, my friend Russ and I took a long drive in the country. We drove from Edmonton, south to Pigeon Lake. Our first stop was the town of Mulhurst, we first drove down main street which runs along the beach. The first stop was to view the lake and it was a beautifull day but the wind was a little chilly. We took a whole mess of photos of some of the buildings and the lake. There were a couple of Seadoo's on the lake, great to photograph.

These are some of the old buildings on main street.
Here is a shot along the beach, a fair amount of activity
     for this time of year.
Then we drove to the south east end of Pigeon Lake
and near MaMeO Beach I saw these cattle and just had to take thier photo. We stopped at MaMeO but didn't stay. There was not much to see, and to far to walk to the beach. MaMeO did not change much since I was there last about 30 years ago. We then decided to go back to Edmonton to have lunch, but rather than eat in Edmonton, we stopped in Leduc to have lunch there. We found a nice place to have lunch at a place called Kosmos in Leduc, and asked if they had Turkey diner, and yes they did, we ordered and wow was it a large dinner with Pumpkin pie included for $12.50, and was it ever a big meal. Both Russ and I were very full when we finnished it, actually we were stuffed. Ha ha, pun intended. On our way back to Edmonton we saw a lot of farmers harvesting thier fields, I just had to take a few photos, I took them through the car windows.

Well, that was our trip, it was very nice to get out of the city for a few hours.

Gift from my Nephew

Hello blog friends, My nephew and his father, just got back from Europe yesterday, they were in Europe for 2 weeks. They did a whirl wind tour of Bavaria, Slovenia, and Austria. They had a great time and a lot of great photos to show for their trip. I was at my nephew's yesterday, we talked about his trip and got to see a good portion of his photos. they were awesome. My nephew was trying to stay up late, but was so tired he was falling asleep standing up. He brought me a present from his trip and we got a big laugh on what it said on it. I took a couple of photos so you could see what the present was and what it said.

The Bottom photo I blended myself as Photoshop merge had problems trying to match the rounded images, so if you see flaws don't be too hard on me. The cup says, in English,
Horst the Seducer.
My nephew didn't know what that meant all he was thinking about was that it had my name on it. They asked me last night what it meant, we had a great laugh when I told them.

Friday Visit to the Park

On Friday my friend Yvonne called to ask if I wanted to come with her and her grand son, to the park. I said yes, so off we went to Hawrylack Park. I took lots of photos. We spent around 3.5  hours there. The day was beautifull and semi warm, well the sun was warm but the wind was cold. It got up to 12 C. It was a beautifull day otherwise. There were tons of birds around the park, waiting for people like us to feed them. Geese, Ducks and Seagulls everywhere. I took a bunch of photos which you can see here and on WLS, also on Flickr.
Well, here are some photos.
