New Life In The Garden

Today I cleaned a little more of the dead stuff out of the garden, I am so happy that I do a few things in the garden without to much pain. I clean some of the garden last week as well, I still have a lot to do as I could not do much last year as I had a Hip replacement last August 29th. I have noticed that I may need to have my right Hip replaced a year or 2 from now, it lets me know that it too is getting bad. Back to the garden, I noticed a lot more things peeking it’s nose out to see if it is ok to sprout. The weather was very nice again for the last 3 days. It is supposed to rain/snow again tonight and most of the weekend, let’s hope for rain, we don’t need any more cold weather. I still have about half of my garden to clean, lets hope I can do this next week. Here are a few photos of the plants that show some life.

Some of my Hens & Chicks did not make it this year because of the lack of snow this winter.

Snow, Lots of Snow

Well, I thought Spring was here, but mother nature always has surprises for us mortals. This snow storm has come up from Montana, USA. More than likely the snow will be gone in a week, even though we don’t want any more snow, we still need moisture and this is good moisture that will soak in slowly. Here are a couple of photos to show you that winter is not gone as yet.

Made Something Today

This evening I made a nice loaf of  Rye Bread so that I can have toast in the morning, Next time I am going to try making Sourdough Rye Bread. Will see what that tastes like. The Rye Bread I made today is very tasty and I added a couple of table spoons of Flax seed. Flax seed is very good for me, has lots of health properties.  One can also buy milled flax flour.  I love to taste freshly baked bread, so I cut of the end of the bread and buttered it and had the great taste of fresh Rye Bread. Here is a photo of the bread that I baked this evening.

Started Seedlings

Last week, Wednesday,I started some seedlings for the garden, last evening I checked them and found that most of them have already sprouted, I was very surprised. I had started some Pansy's, some Red Flax, and Some Cypress Vine. The Vine was the first to sprout and then came the Red Flax. I will see if the Pansy’s will come next, I found that the Pansy is a slow starter and will come up in another week or two. I have another flat of seedlings that I started but there is nothing up in this flat, mainly because I started them 2 days ago. I took a few photos for you to see, they are not artsy photos, just simple snap shots. I sure hope I didn’t start these seeds to soon as it is still very early in my part of the globe. I didn’t think they would come up so fast.
