Iris from my Garden

Hello everyone, it’s been a while since I posted a photo here on my blog. My Irises are blooming and they are so beautiful, I thought I would show you an image of my Grey/Blue Iris, some may say it is purple but it is really not. I have played with this image and I thought I would also give you a couple of variations of the same image. I did an image without filters and 2 with filters. Let me know how each one is in your opinion.

Today we got a emergency warning that a tornado is in the area and may hit our city (I hope not, been there done that). So I thought I would pop into the garden and get some images of the Iris. So the light is a little dull but the main thing there is not heavy shadow contrast. I like soft light. Anyway here are the images.

Let me know if you like it and give me the reasons why.

Thank you everyone and be safe out there, mother

                 nature is not always nice.

  1. I love your header, Horst! And I like actually all three images of your gorgeous irises!

And I don't have a reason why I love them. They are just beautiful in any way; in original and artistic!

  3. as much as I enjoy playing with graphics - somehow, for me, mother nature is best portrayed as its true self. I LOVE your first image especially Horst and I sure hope the tornado does come near to where you live. Batten up!

    1. Hi Carole, we had a big one hit our city in 1987. Don't want to see one up close again, thank you. I heard it touched down 50 miles south west of Edmonton, but did no damage.

  5. Great to see something from you again Horst, ya that tornado warning I had no idea about, I was away from my computer and I'm glad I didn't hear about it or I may have been worried!

The photo of this Iris is awesome, actually one of mine is in full bloom as well. I LOVE the first photo, the clarity of the flower with the macro background, yet I also like the softness of the second photo. The third one I don't much care for, I'm not an abstract individual though when it comes to art. I just learned that abstract is what feelings arise from a piece of abstract art, not what do you see or how do you interpret it (analyze it), but how it makes you feel. I'm not sure if you follow Wong's blog or not, he's the one who brought this to my attention so who knows, I just might like abstract a little more if I feel it instead of try to analyze it.

Have a wonderful week and hopefully no tornadoes here!

    1. Hi Vera, the weather here is pounding us still, loots of flooding here in my home province. Here in Edmonton, the river is very high and we are under possible flood warning.

  10. I love the blue iris. I find it just a contrast with the colorful ones. I have on or two and the also smell so nice. I have been gone from home for over a week and hope mine will be open when I return. Hope you are having a wonderful summer. Hugs Carrie

  11. Hi Carrie, the blue Iris is lasting a long time this year, must be all the rain we are getting. I hope yours are still blooming when you get back.

  13. Horst, these are beautiful! I like the first two best, with a slight edge to the first. In this case, I like the clear detail of the raindrops on the iris.

You asked about the horses in my post. The couple who own them have a larger place with bigger fields that they live on, and where the horses normally stay.
