Hello everyone, I live in the province of Alberta, Canada in the city of Edmonton. Alberta is quite a big province. Southern Alberta has been stricken with flooding. In Calgary almost 100,000 people have been ordered to evacuate their homes and , most of the downtown area is under water. There are many more communities that are flooding. I will post a link so you can see what is happening. Here is the link: http://edmonton.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=952529 or

So awful. I hope you are safe. The rain storms just seem to dump so much. My prayers to all affected.
ReplyDeleteI definitely am safe, I live a few miles from the river. It has to be a biblical flood to get to my house.
DeleteWe are safe here in Central AB ... although we live close to a river .. Greetings, Horst, thanks for stopping by my blog ... I totally deleted it because of some Idiot trying to mess it up for me ... Love, cat.
ReplyDeleteCat it's so good to hear that you and your family are safe from the flooding.
DeleteStay safe Horst! Thinking of all affected.
ReplyDeleteYour header photo is beautiful!
Thanks Beth, I'm safe where I am but I hope the weather calm down soon.
DeleteHorst our world seems to be continually threatened by the wilds of weather. It's always saddening when it affects communities like this.
ReplyDeleteI listen to the news constantly to find out what's happening, I'm sure glad I don't have to travel.
DeleteIt's a real mess....I just hope it gets cleared up with no loss of life.
ReplyDeleteHi Adrian, so far they have found 3 bodies in the town of High River. Yes it is a real mess.
DeleteTerrible tragedy Horst. I hope you manage to keep safe.
ReplyDeleteHi Kieth, yes I'm fine, I'm on very high ground, the highest point in Edmonton.
DeleteAuch von mir die besten Wünsche. Sei vorsichtig!
ReplyDeleteIch habe ja selbst im letzten Jahr Teile deiner Heimat bereist und mich dort sehr wohl gefühlt. Schlimm nun zu sehen, was das Hochwasser angerichtet hat.
Thanks Toto. The authorities in southern Alberta are starting to clean up the areas they can get at.
DeleteHorst, This year, nature does what she wants. There were also floods. Sometimes the houses with water up to the roof. And today, after a week of hot dry weather raining all day. Again threatens flooding. Something is wrong. I wish you good health!
ReplyDeleteThank you Peter, yes I heard about the flooding in Europe. Hard to believe.
ReplyDeleteI've seen the news on TV, there are floods in many countries. The images are stunning. I hope you recover soon of these catastrophes.
ReplyDeleteA hug.
Thanks Laura.
DeleteHope you are safe Horst awful just Awful.
ReplyDeleteLove the Sunflower header so pretty.
Sheila x
Thanks Sheila, I am growing a couple of Sunflowers again this year.
DeleteLove to grow a Sunflower just think they are awesome so looking forward to seeing your Horst.
DeleteEnjoy your Weekend :)
Oh my, that is so horrific. I hope you are able to stay safe! Keeping all those affected in my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteIt seems that all around the world there are places getting to much water that can't drain fast enough and flood. Our flood is over now and the clean up is on the way. My city had very little flooding, just a few house basements and one high rise basement car park. It was south of us that had the big flood.
DeleteYou must be safe, otherwise you wouldn’t have been blogging, surely.
ReplyDeleteIf so, I am glad.
Floods are dreadful, there’s nothing you can do to stop them.
Have you heard of the floods in Germany? East and South were very seriously flooded with many people having become homeless.
Hi Friko, yes I kept up with the news in Germany and the flooding there. The flooding here was much the same, tens of thousands were ordered out of their homes and at least 3 deaths attributed to the flooding here. Some people are starting to be allowed back but the town of High River is still under water. About one hundred thousand people have been affected by the flooding here in Alberta Canada. The damages are in the Billions of dollars.
ReplyDeleteHorst you are presumably safe and on high ground, but the news is terrible. The whole world seems to be in trouble weather wise and there are floods in so many places. I feel so sad for the people who have lost everything and family as well. Love your header photo. Keep well Diane
ReplyDeleteIt really is hard to listen to the news of all the people that can't get into their homes. Some of the homes are still under water and will more likely be torn down(unlivable). I sure hope the government can help them.
DeleteI am so sorry to hear about the flooding! I saw it on TV and didn't realize it was where you lived until now. I hope all is well. We are having a disabling Bart strike in the Bay Area with an accompanying Heat Wave. A pain to be sure, but we are not losing our homes. With all of the weather problems it's heart breaking. My thoughts are with you, keep dry.
ReplyDeleteHi Bekkie, Yes i'm keeping dry. We now are on the hot side of the weather with very high humidity. Thank goodness I have air conditioning.
DeleteIm praying that the rest of the Summer is just fine and ( normal )? . Have a blessed rest of the week.
ReplyDeleteI will be away until the end of July.
and thanks for asking . I doing well Horst.
Lisa,so glad to here you are doing well.
ReplyDeleteHome again, Horst. We have vacationed in Portugal, beautiful country. I wish you good weekend.
ReplyDeleteA hug.

ReplyDeleteHow incredibly horrible it may ¨ ste be for all those who have been affected
ReplyDeleteI hope you're doing well and not directly affected by the extensive flooding.
ReplyDeleteNo Daniel not affected, the flooding happened 350 kilometers south in Calgary, and south of Calgary as well. Here in Edmonton we had a few basements flooded, that's all.
DeleteThat is horrible. I feel badly for all those that were affected by this horrible thing. I read about it and heard about it.
ReplyDeleteNow, do you yet know what date in August, Horst? I am glad it's going to be underway and that as soon as your recover from this one, you will be back to the way you were in mobility. I am so looking forward to your being able to do the things you want to do without hesitation once this heals.
Fantastic photos:) Greetings
ReplyDeleteI sure hope things are getting back to normal in your area. I love your sunflower header just beautiful. We finally got some rain after over a month without and just in time as the thunderstorms have arrive bringing with the lots of lighten. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Hugs Carrie
ReplyDeleteIndeed that sunflower header is outstanding! I am also here to say thank you for that comment on Katie's blog yesterday. She and I BOTH smiled. Her smile is a lot more charming. Hoping you are alright while you wait.
ReplyDeleteHi Katie & Carole, only 1 week and 1 day to go. Tomorrow I have to go see the Anesthetist. He/She will be telling me what they will be doing to put me under for the surgery.
DeleteIt was horrible for everyone who lives there
ReplyDeleteYes it was Mimmi.
DeleteYou have undoubetedly been to see the anesthesist by now and the time is clicking down. I will be thinking of you (yes, I will) each day till you are able to tell us how you are.
ReplyDeleteI will post a blog as soon as I get Home Carole. I am of of my Anti Inflammatory meds right now and the pain is hard to take, I am taking T3's right now but they just don't do the same job. Two more days til the big day.
ReplyDeleteHi Horst, thank you for your visit and comment, I hardly think I deserve a reply after neglecting everyone for so long, i must keep in touch now that I see you are due an operation, I hope all goes well.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness you are home and I PRAY that your pain is abated and that you are recovering well. I have not forgotten you.
ReplyDeleteHi Horst hope all is well good Luck with the Hip operation, hope all works ok for you. Think you said August sometime

Hi, Horst, wondering how you are doing ... wishing you well ... Love, cat.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cat, Doing good so far, not so much pain now thank goodness.
DeleteHow are you? I remember reading you had your hip done. I hope it's slowly getting better. Long time no see, at least since before the beginning of this year. I need to have both of my knees redone but not yet.
ReplyDeleteI am still writing away on my websites. I have 4 more(different subjects I like)besides BIW. I am attempting a book of poetry and have been busy writing. I am sorry I disappeared for some time but had another eye surgery last year after the first one, unfortunately it came back. My doctor saved my sight anyway and as an artist I felt spared at least for awhile. I was so lucky but it was hard work too. Glad to be back and feeling pretty good. Have a nice ending to your week Horst! I can't even imagine a flood like that. I hope everyone is okay.
Hi Bekkie, since you've gone to google plus I can't leave you a message there.
ReplyDeleteWow, you seem to have gone through a whole lot of medical stuff lately (wow, almost lost your sight that alone is unreal) Hope everything is fine with you now. I am doing really well it's been about 4 weeks since my surgery and starting to walk without a limp but still with a cane. I am going to get a 4 wheeled walker that has a seat so I can sit down when I get tired. Then I will go for long walks. Have a great weekend Bekkie, bye for now.
My friend, I have three email addys for you and always seem to chose the wrong one.
ReplyDeleteI would like to reply via email if you could do me the favor of an email so I can mark it and file it and send you an email.
xo
Will do Carole.
DeleteHope that it has become normal with you again
ReplyDeletehave a good day
