My Thanksgiving weekend

My Thanksgiving weekend was actually a boring one. I was babysitting a Jack Russell female, yes a dog.  My nephew and his wife and son went to Calgary to have Thanksgiving with Lori’s family. They had no one to take care of the dog but they could not take the dog with them, so I volunteered to do the boring task of babysitting.  I could not go anyware because the dog has terrible separation anxiety. She is partially deaf from birth and is a little spoiled, but she is a sweet little dog, that loves to cuddle  and sleep with you in bed. I had to throw this dog out of my bed twice at night. I don’t like dogs sleeping in my bed. ;-)  no time to wonder around and take photos in the countryside. I was able to take a few photos of this old farm windmill ( I have photographed it before but not in autumn). So here is the windmill that I have put a painterly affect on. I hope you like it.

I took a few different formats, so here it is vertical as well .

  1. How sweet of you to sit for a dog on Thanksgiving. I hope your nephew brought you left overs. Oh your painting of photos are wonderful. I really like both. Is this out your window?

  2. I love these.............I love having the dogs around though they do make nature walks a problem.

  3. I hope the little dog behaved himself Horst; apart from sneaking into your bed.
Of the two pictures, I think I prefer the portrait version. Excellent processing on both.

  4. Keith, The dog (Tia) was a very good girl. She sure was missing the family.

Hi Toodie, I wish it was my window, but no it was my nephews window.

Adrian, I enjoy the dog every time I go to visit, she loves people that's why she needs to be on a leash. I took her for a walk as much as I could but my hip is still healing and I must be careful not to injure myself. I came home a little sore but will recover.

  7. A windmill is very poetic and very beautiful. Very artistic pictures. Beautifully done.

That was very kind of you, Horst to look after dog. And it wasn't easy. You are very nice man.

    Greetings from Kaya.

  8. Horst these are fantastic! I know what you mean about sleeping with dogs... that's all I'll say! lol Just kidding. I don't allow my dog in my bed, I'm too busy to wash my sheets every second day and I'm such a clean freak that it would drive me nuts if I crawled in and my bed smelled like my dog... ewwww. :-)

  10. What a perfect subject for your work. I have a couple windmill photos maybe I should try some changes too. I do love your vertical one. We are still dogless so any mention of dogs just tug at my heart. I am ready just haven't come across on I am ready to adopt.

  11. Hi Carrie, I love dogs and cats, but I don't have one in my house. They need looking after and I can't afford it when they get sick. I would rather look after others animals once in a while than than have one of my own.

Darlin, this little doggy is very shot haired but it sheds and I don't like it when I am covered with dog or cat hair. Also I don't like it when a dog licks me specially on my face.

  14. Oh dear Horst, how disappointing for you, not much fun dog sitting when you're heart's not really in it. Never mind you did make a lovely job of the windmill, the painterly effect is quite natural looking, Thanks for visiting me and leaving kind comments. I'm hoping to do a bit of catching up and returning the compliment, and hope I don't pay with a painful shoulder.

  15. I used to have a rottweiler / doberman female dog. She was a rescue, so we got her when she was full grown. She used to slither into the bed in the middle of the night. She was one huge dog. I used to wake up to find her stretched lengthwise alongside me. Never understood how she got there! Glad to hear that your hip is allowing you to do some walking. Love the photos.

  16. Long time no hear from you Horst! As usual your artwork is wonderful! I like the second one better, the long image. We haven't had Thanksgiving here yet so I was a little confused. I do know that not all countries have holidays the same, so is that it? I've been thining of you as I keep learning how to use Photoshop. It's so much fun! Stop by sometime again I miss you! Happy Halloween and Thanksgiving! Tee hee! ♥

  19. Horst, windmill photographs in the image. Nice picture. I like .... I do not like animals in my bed. Although I love them. The photography I also have little time. We go for a granddaughter. I go to work. On nature walks there is little time. Have a nice week, best wishes Peter.
