Today was a great day

Well I went out into the garden today just to get out of the house. I was outside for at least 4 hours. I did a little weeding only my planters as I can’t bend more that 90 degrees, and I did some watering. I cleaned and filled all the bird feeders and pulled out the birdbath, cleaned it and filled it with water. Tomorrow morning I will have a look to see if the birds will use it to bathe and drink from it. One of my neighbors even came over to see how I was doing. We talked for at least half an hour. The plant the really makes me proud as all the others are slowly dying or getting ready for the winter, but my Geranium is blooming like crazy, I took a photo so I can show it to you. These 2 Geranium plants are from cuttings I took of last years plants, I think I will take about 4 or 5 cuttings this year and nurse them through the winter.  This is a photo straight out of the camera. So here it is, I hope you like it.

  1. Lovely DOF. I'm glad you are on the mend. less than a year to the Olympics so you'd best get mobile.

  2. I bought a geranium in full bloom to put outside the front door. But instead of growing it has gone backwards and is now looking like it would have done when very young. But at least some of us have a knack with growing these plants - yours look gorgeous, and I am glad you managed some time outdoors. When I am feeling less than myself if I do make the effort to get outside I always feel better.

  3. Horst that's awesome to hear you got out of the house today, good for you! The plant is beautiful, so what do you do take shoots off and keep them indoors over the winter months?

  4. Horst, I read your story about the hospital stay. I'm glad you're home again. Home is home. I believe that the joint no longer angry and everything will be okay again. I wish you that. No pain, my friend. Keep it quiet from the disease. The photo is beautiful with geraniums. I wish you peace! / Peter.

  7. Hey Darlin, yes I take cuttings and get them to root , then plant them in pots to be ready for spring. That's what I did last year with these plants. It helps if one has well prepared soil in the spring to plant them in.

  13. Hi Horst, what a nice upbeat blog compared to the previous one, and I am so pleased you're feeling well enough to get out in the garden and do these little chores, such a sense of satisfaction when you do. Your geranium is so lovely, such a beautiful shade of pink, I like geraniums, and grow quite a lot, though i've not had much success in growing them from cuttings, and just buy new each year.
Thanks for your visits, sorry i've not been over earlier, but i always get around in the end. keep up the health improvements. XX

  21. HOrst I am so glad you are doing so much better then your last blog. Getting outside around your flowers and fresh air probably did a world of good. All my flowers are still blooming like crazy. I have never had such a late growing season like this year. It has been so warm even in the evenings. I just may make it all the way to October. I use to be lucky to get past the 1st week of September without loosing everything. WE have had a couple light frosts but I covered the more tender stuff. Also now have a lot more hardy annual that can take a few light frost. Like the geraniums. I winter 4 or 5 plants from last year and will be doing more this year. Anyway hope you continue to have a feeling good weekend. Hugs Carrie

  23. So pleased to read that you are getting on so well, gardens are wonderful places to help you recover, so long as you don't overdo it :) Your geranium looks great, I usually just leave my geranium plants out over the winter and they survive, but I got caught out last year and lost the lot!! I will be doing cutting too this year :):)
