  8. Lovely photo's Horst thank you for dipping into your archives. I am very familiar with Canadian Geese having a large pond in our garden They are at the moment checking the place out , next door also have a new pond so they are also checking that one out. We will just have to wait and see. Have a lovely Sunday. Sheila

  9. Wonderful photos as always, the chicks are so cute!! Thanks for sharing :) Spring seems to have arrived here in England, we have had another lovely day here. Lots of lambs in the fields and spring flowers, I even have an ornamental poppy in bloom in my garden, I hope we have a good summer this year :)

  10. I love seeing them. Did Mama come after you? I have been hissed at and flown at!

  11. Hi Carole, They hissed at me, but they didn't chase me as I had some food to give them. They actually came withing 2 feet of me and were inbetween me and the babies. I didn't move to fast so they were willing to get close, and when I had no more food they slowly went away. Oh, and normally it's the gander that is very cautious and will attack, the momma will scurrey the little goslings away. We had geese on the farm and I was very observant and was attacked by the gander many times. Momma will only attack if she is alone with the goslings.

  12. Thank you Sheila, you are so lucky to have a pond on your property.

Thanks, Dorothy, you have a great week as well.

Hi Poppy, thank you, you are at least a month or more ahead of us here in Edmonton, Canada. Look forward to some garden photos of your flowers.

  13. Oh, and Carole, the gander didn't like me much, because I figured out how to thwart his attacks, and that pissed him off bigtime. The first few times he beat the crap out if my schins and legs. I was black and blue from the waist down. :-)

  14. Love the geese Horst. I have been fortunate to this point and have never been attacked. I usually move very slow, and talk to them in a soft quiet voice. I think they just get use to me, and say, "Oh it's just the lady with the funny beak, that goes click, click". Ha! They seem to be curious with the sound of my camera. I just love them. I just have to watch where I am stepping. :)
Thanks for sharing these wonderful pictures from your archives.
Have a great week Horst, and thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving your nice comment.

  16. Hey Darlin, these photos were taken at Hawrelak Park. I really enjoy going there in the spring and watch the ducks and geese. There are tons of other birds and animals there to photograph.

  19. Hi Lisa, I don't know if the little goslings are born yet. The photos I took of the family of geese were taken on the 28th of May and they looked about a week or so old. You could go check anytime after the 15th of May. I will be going to see in a week or so. Maybe I will see you there.

  20. Lisa, take a loaf of bread with you to feed them, this way they will get closer to you.

  24. Interesting photos. I wonder what did you do... there is some editing, right? I am a complete newbie and learning a lot.

Great blog you have here! :)

  25. Hi Kaya, thank you for the great compliment. Today will be the best day so far this spring. It will be 21C (about 72F ). I was just outside and it is hot already, we are not used to this warm weather here in Edmonton, Alberta Canada.

  26. Thank you Aloysa, yes I have done some editing in Adobe Photoshop CS3. There are lots of tutorials available to help you improve. If you can't afford Adobe Photoshop, then there is a free phogram available, it's called "Gimp", it is very similar to Adobe photoshop. I do believe there are tutorials for it as well.

  27. Nope, cannot afford Photoshp. Not yet. :) I will try GIMP. I've heard about it. Thank you!

  28. Hi, it's me again. I am the beginner in photography ( I am doing photography for seven months already). I don't understand how you took pictures with a such interesting blur background. It's a mystery for me.

  29. Hi Kaya, which photo are you talking about. There are many ways to make a background out of focus and still have a shape subject. If you like you can e-mail me at "hr52can@gmail.com" and leave me your e-mail, then we can converse a little better and in a speedier manor.

  30. Horst these are so precious. Wonderful subjects to add your special touches to. We had 6 baby geese for 4 days in our fields below our house with their parents. Unfortunatly a young bear has also been feeding off the grasses in the field causing the geese to move on futher down the valley. WE have 2 or 3 other pairs but I don't think they have nested yet. There is so much flooding right now in our creek. I sure hope the 1st batch find their way back here again. They were so fun watch.
