Snow Snow Snow

Well, as the title says, we have been getting a lot of snow. It is hard to describe the amount of snow we have gotten but it is a lot. It is very hard to get around now because of all the snow. We have gotten about 2 feet of snow in the last 30 hours, I have shoveled my car out of a snow bank, where it was parked on the front street, just to almost get stuck in my parking spot. Our parking lot was just cleaned last week, and needs to be cleaned again. I had to push my door open this morning in order to squeeze thought and shovel so I could get the door fully open. My hip and back are killing me with pain from all this shoveling. My backyard is so full of snow, I am not sure where to put it all if more snow comes.  I took a few shots from my front and back door to show you what I mean.

My front is almost the same, where the truck is, is where I was stuck. That truck looks    like a four wheel drive.

  1. I feel your pain with all of that shoveling. I feel I should never complain about our paltry few inches of snow again, but I know I will. ;-)

  2. Snow insulates well but hey you do have alot there! Is this a typical winter for where you are? Interesting to take note. Take care of your hip and back. That was alot of shoveling you did.

  4. Well, here the weather can change very often, but mostly we get about 2 feet of snow the whole winter. This year weave had so far about 4 feet of snow, officaly, maybe not that much, but some places around here got more than other places. The farmers are loving this amount of snow, and so are the winter sports lovers. We will see how much more this winter brings.

  7. Oh my you do have tons of snow! I can imagine how sick you get from seeing it when it seems to never leave. We get a little excited down south to see snow, even when it's an inch or two. lol In fact.. we're having a *snowday* today with the inch or so we got last night. Now if we can just keep the freezing rain away.
Stay inside and get someone to shovel that mess for you Horst. You can't hurt yourself!

  8. Hi Kimmy, I did a little shoveling today so I can get at the feeders. I gave the birds some more sunflower seeds. I is incredeble how much snow we have. Tomorrow I will go and see if I have to shovel around my car in the parking lot. If I do a little everyday I will not hurt as much.

  9. Yeah, by March we are really sick of the snow, but we are also used to it.

  12. Hey Kieth, this snow will stay till the end of March or even the end of April.
Cat we had a crapy spring last year, I sure hope it warms up in March or April.

  13. Good Heavens Horst, How do you cope in that sort of snow, it's like Eskimoland! I almost exoect to see some reindeer pop their heads round the corner. Seriously though, it's not much fun when you have to get down to the hard work of clearing it away, especially when you're not as fit as you'd like to be, You take care, as there's only one YOU and can't be replaced. I hope it'll be gone soon, and not March as you mention. We had it that bad back in 1962 where it didn't clear properly till April, but that was unusual.

  14. Hi Arlene, you must remember that we do not have the Gulfstream to help melt the snow like you do. Here we are very close to the mountains, and get a lot of northwinds. Some years we get warm weather in March and other years we don't warm up untill the end of April.

  18. We got over 2 feet today, we now have a total of 3 feet. Our driveway is getting to be a problem. But I just love it. Hubby is getting bored with not being able to do all the things he likes to outside so we will be heading south in a couple days. I love your New year Header. Wishing you warmer days. Hugs Carrie

  19. I give you that Horst, the weather here is not all that wonderful, even in summer, it's certainly never reliable enough to plan more than about three days in advance, and the damo, as we have right now, is not pleasant, Maybe I'll come after all, in june/july eh?

  22. Hi just came back to see if you've thawed out, I love the Robin at the top, did you paint it, or was it edited from a photo.

  23. Hi Arlene, no not thawed out yet, not until April. The bird at the top is not a Robin it is a House Finch. I made it look like a painting in photoshop.

  24. Oh poor you, sending warm hugs,,,,,,,catch! apart from the Finch bill it looks like a british robin, [they've got insect eating bills] lovely though.
