My Babies update

Hey everyone, just thought I would show you how big my Amaryllis babies have gotten. Oh, it seems that there has been so little sun these days and the buildup of snow on the windows, that the adult Amaryllis, that I have are not blooming. They are even loosing their leaves. Ok, back to the babies, they are growing but have stalled a little, because of the lack of light and the huge amount of snow on the windows. Here is a photo I took a few days ago, notice the snow on the window.

  1. Oh my gosh, I feel I should never complain about the snow here again. But you and I both know that I will.
The plants look healthy to me. I hope they bloom for you.

  2. I agree with Beth, I won't complain either.
Your plants are impressive, and your snow too!

  3. Hi Beth, I think it is just human nature to complain about the weather. These babies wont bloom for a few more years. I will take them out in the spring (late May) and they will grow in size, but the first thing I need to do in spring is repot them. It is still snowing. will have to go and shovel again.

  5. Way too much snow for me Horst! lol
It's a wonder those plants are growing at all.
They seem to be thriving though, despite the poor light.

  6. Hi Keith, yes, it's a lot of snow, I think the farmers will be happy as long as we don't have any flooding in spring. That's a south window that the plants are in, it's just a problem with the snow piling up on it. We are getting way more snow than usual. Not much we can do about it. On Thursday we are supposed to get a warm up to +2C.

  7. I can't imagine that much snow except while I was living in southern Germany in the Schwäbisch Alps.

I hope the babies hold on.

  8. Hi Carole, I heard on the noon news that the reason we are getting so much snow is due to La Ninia, which is responsible for all the weather problems around the world. The babies will survive, no doubt about that.

  10. The older I get the less I like winter. I wish it would be spring soon, but no such luck. ;-)

  12. I'll have to show you photos of the windrows out on the street out in fron of my house. I'll try to do this tomorrow. This will be the 3rd time they have removed this amount of snow from the street.

  13. Ahhh...looks familiar. I like all seasons, but I am so ready for Spring this year! We're seeing a lot more bird varieties and huge quantities of geese, a sure sign that spring is on the way. Thanks so much for your kind comments and advise!

  14. Hi Tammy, I saw a flock of Geese fly over Edmonton today, I was surprised to see them so early.
