lots of Garden Photos

On June 19, yesterday I went to the x-ray Doctors office and got a x-ray guided shot of cortisone in my right hip. This was the first time to get one of these, so I didn’t know what to expect. I really hate needles but anything to help get rid of my hip pain. My Dr. said that the pain is sciatic nerve pain, so this is a test to see if that is what it is. Well they got my on the x-ray table and had me lay on my stomach, which I never do and was quite uncomfortable. So the doctor explained what he was going to do and started  the procedure. well the first needle was a pain killer and that was not to bad, the next needle was the dye they use and it was a little more painful, the last needle was inserted in 4 or 5 locations to find the right spot. Well, when they finally got the right spot it was quite painful then they injected the Cortisone, I felt the deepest pain I have ever felt before even though they had given me the pain killer injection. Thank goodness it didn’t last long. Today as I write this I still feel the hip pain, not that bad but it is still there. What I have noticed is that the knotted muscle near my kidney is  easing up, and I can walk a little better. The doctor said it will take a couple of days for the injection to take affect. So hopefully this will be a success. On a lighter note I am showing you a few more photos from my garden.

  1. The flowers are lovely Horst.

Before I had back surgery I went through the shots in the hip. I know first hand that they are very painful. The nurse told me at the time that she had seen grown men pass out from the shots. I never had anything to deaden the pain just suffered with it. I hope you feel better soon.

    1. Hey Red, I take things as they come, I don't feel sorry for myself. There is pain but I don't dwell on it. I love life to much. The hip that I had replaced is not the one that is giving me pain.

    1. Those Pansies are beautiful, aren't they. When I bought them only one flower was blooming. It took 3 weeks of Sun and fertilizer for them to get that way.

  5. Horst, I sorry to hear that you need to take the cortisone shots for your hip. Anything to do with the sciatic nerve is very painful. I hope it helps and you do not need another shot for a very long time.

Love all your beautiful garden flowers, and compositions. Each and everyone done to perfection.
Take care and I hope you have a wonderful summer, and many more Beautiful photos to share.

    1. Thanks Dianne, I love to grow and photograph flowers. I wasn't sure if people (my blog friends) were getting tired of my flowers. I also found the beginnings of a Tomato on my Tomato plants. Looks like my pruning is a success. I have to get a taller pole for my Tomato's. I found the right size pot for my Tomato's and it has to be black, as Tomato's are heat lovers, that and make sure they don't dry out or get too wet, because drainage is very important.

  15. I've only had one shot of cortisone in a joint..that my shoulder and while it helped a LOT the pain of dislocating my shoulder to put the shot IN was tremendous. He broke the needle the first time and we had to go thru the dislocation process a second time. No pain killer. This was the old days, the 70's.

Had a tragedy right after I took that photo this morning of the tomato plant. A major branch broke on its own what with the weight. It was standing great just a few hours previous..but it broke. There are 6 unripe tomatoes that will die.

    1. Hi Carole, the tomato's will ripen on the vine so don't throw them away. The rest of the plant will grow on as long as there is still the outer bark or skin on the trunk of the main tomato plant.

  18. Today I picked a full garbage bag of weeds, and will have to pick another patch of weeds tomorrow. Those weeds grow faster than I can pick them. Will also do some splitting of Siberian Irises in the next few days.

  21. Hello Horst!

First, wow! I love your floral images. Your gardens must be the envy of your neighbourhood.

Second, oh no! I know first hand about the pain you describe. After exhausting many types of treatments I underwent two spinal surgeries within a one week period. I had two herniated discs and an unstable lumber that was fused and additional rods put in two provide stabilization.

I still experience daily pain, but at least now I am able to get out and take photos for shorts periods of time.

You're one tough dude! Don't give up.

  24. Horst, I think that this is sciatic nerve and you will soon will have a relieve from pain. Please, do whatever doctors suggest and you will be better. Please, don't despair and remember that recovery from hip surgery takes some time.

Your flowers are fantastic!!! I hope that you already feel much better when I am writing this comment.
