Mountain Bike

I went riding on my mountain bike today. I really didn’t know how stiff I was until I tried to get on my Bike, wow, what an eye opener. I got on my bike and what did I do, well I almost fell on my face, lucky I landed on some nice soft grass. I scraped my shin a bit but it will heal. I finally got riding and went for about 20 city blocks. The wind was fairly strong, and I had to adjust my saddle a little to use the bike more efficiently. Well about half way out I thought I better get back before I run out of energy. It got harder to pedal as I was going against the wind, so I shifted down and was able to get back with no problem. Well I wasn’t really gone for long, so when I got back and put the bike away, I went into my garden to relax in the sun a bit. The sun was so nice I sat there for a good 1/2 hour. Then the birds were getting a little angry at me for interfering in getting at their feeders. So I looked around my little garden and saw a few of my plants were blooming. Now my brain starting wiring and clicking, and I thought, yes I should take a few photos of these beautiful blooms, but how do I do this, hmmm. So I went into the house and looked for my skinny vase, and there it was. I hurried into the garden and cut the 3 blooms that were blooming, put them in the vase and hurried back into the house. Then I thought, hmmm, how do I set this up, hmmm. I know I will do a still life. similar to how I took the still life of the Big Camera that I have. Then I took several different angles and came up with the photos I am about to show you.  I hope you like them.

  1. I am so thrilled to read you can bike. Not long ago it seems you had a hard time. Take it slow. Walking is the best I found. I love all the photos. The first one is tops for me. Have a great week ahead.

  3. Sounds like you had a great day Horst, accept for the fall off your bike. Glad to hear you are okay, and hope you feel okay in the morning. I have had my share of falls while riding my bike also. I love riding my bike on the trails but don't ride on the roads anymore than I have to.

I love your header by the way, and your fresh cut flowers in the base turned out great. Very nice presentation, and beautiful compositions as well.

Well you take care and have a wonderful week ahead.
    Dianne :)

  9. A little added note to Scott, I have had my hip replaced last Aug. 29. So riding my mountain bike was a big thing for me. The end result was that I did it and no bad things happened and I am so happy with myself. My other hip is not so great, but I will not let that stop me from doing things that will keep the rest of me healthy.

  10. I don't know! The minute I take my eye of your blog you get yourself into trouble on a bike! Didn't stop you taking great photos though :) I think you did amazingly well to get out on your bike actually after having the hip replacement. My ex-work collegue who also had this op' done certainly wouldn't have been able to achieve that! Hope your shin makes a speedy recovery :)

  23. You had an eventful day, Horst!

Glad you found a soft landing (bonus)... and flowers from your own garden to photograph (double bonus).

Hope future biking days build stamina, strength and flexibility. Perhaps a stretch before your next outing will help.

  24. Nothing worse than going for a ride and then suddenly it hits you that you have the same distance to ride home again. No problem when you are fit and in training, but starting out as I will have to-do again this year, it means lots of stretching and thinking seriously about distances!

    Love the photos. Diane
