Hello everyone, just thought you may want another look at my experiment with my Amaryllis, yes the babies. Just thought you would like an update and see how big they have grown. So here they are.
You have no idea, I have another 40 or so Amaryllis plants in another room. Would you like one? ;-) I still have maybe 50 seeds that I didn't plant. I could send you some of those.
Hi Cindy, yes they will bloom and it will take up to 3 years before they do. Every time they send up a new leaf that leaf is bigger and can soak up more sunlight. These plants reproduce in 2 ways. They can send out shoots that create a clone plant or they can make seeds. The flowers can be cross bred to makes seeds that have some of both the plants, this way you can get all kinds of different colors.
I cross bred these babies with a White Amaryllis to a Red Amaryllis, so I could get red & white striped or pink, or any shade in between red and white.
Congrats on all your babies, Horst. Just too bad we have to wait 3 yrs. till they bloom. It will be interesting to see what they look like. You have two wonderful hobbies. Dianne :)
Hi Diane, I have more hobbies but can't do them all now. I was a very good archer at one time, but can't stand very well now. Will have to start again and sit while I shoot. I also loved to do woodwork but have no place to do it now.
They look strong and healthy Horst. Quite a few there by the looks of it.
