Last week, Wednesday,I started some seedlings for the garden, last evening I checked them and found that most of them have already sprouted, I was very surprised. I had started some Pansy's, some Red Flax, and Some Cypress Vine. The Vine was the first to sprout and then came the Red Flax. I will see if the Pansy’s will come next, I found that the Pansy is a slow starter and will come up in another week or two. I have another flat of seedlings that I started but there is nothing up in this flat, mainly because I started them 2 days ago. I took a few photos for you to see, they are not artsy photos, just simple snap shots. I sure hope I didn’t start these seeds to soon as it is still very early in my part of the globe. I didn’t think they would come up so fast.
Cypress Vine
Red Flax
These images are not that great but it is something to see. Here is an images that is easy on the eyes.
Nice flowers Horst...... very good pictures.
ReplyDeleteGreetings, Joop
They are growing and nicely. Its going to be fun to see them process.
ReplyDeleteall part of the nurturing botanical in your soul Horst; from little seeds big things grow. The white hippeastrum (your amaryllis), wonder what the differences .... it's beautiful
ReplyDeleteHey Carole, I have a house full of Amaryllis, seedlings from my White and Red Amaryllis. They may be Pink or maybe striped, don't know they take up to 5 years to bloom the seedling babies are only 2 years old so far. I still have to trans plant some of them, they are bursting out of the communal pots.
DeleteMy White Amaryllis has a few clone babies in a big pot, they all are blooming right now. I must separate them this spring when it warm outside. Need to buy some big pots.
DeleteYou have the best touch with Amaryllis's. Better than me. Your seeds did come up fast.
ReplyDeleteIt took my pansy three weeks for one to sprout and one died, drooped.
I enjoy seeing your photos.
Hi Nancy, my Pansy's are not up yet, just the others. It will take a lot longer for them.
DeleteIt's time to get excited about gardening. You've got a good start.
ReplyDeleteThanks Red.
DeleteI found, last year, that there could be a problem with fungus so I learned that Camille Tea can keep the fungus away. I the U.S, I believe you can still get Damp Off, for your seedlings. That's what can really help them.
ReplyDeleteI think to plant the seeds it is a bit early because the weather is cold.
ReplyDeleteAt least here in Greece it is at this moment..
Happy gardening, Horst!!!
Those came up very quickly Horst. It may be early but then again you'll have Pansies to photograph that much sooner....
ReplyDeleteYou are going to have such a lovely garden.
ReplyDeleteHi Beth, I have a lot of cleaning up to do in my little garden. Could not do any last fall, but I am raring to go as soon as the snow is gone.
DeleteHope your seedlings all survive Horst.
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to do some 'update' pictures. :-)
Hi Keith, I'll do that just for you.;-)
DeleteNice pictures! We have amaryllis to Christmas and I wonder why not all over the year....
ReplyDeleteHi Lindsjo, they only bloom once a year. Mine bloom when ever they want, mainly between Christmas and May. Every year it is different. This year the will all go outside at the end of May.
DeleteVery nice spring pictures!!!
ReplyDeleteYou had a right temperature, so it grew fast!
Good morning!
Horst you reckon these will hold well until planting time? They're sure sprouting up fast!
ReplyDeleteHey Darlin, I will more than likely have to transplant them into a bigger pot before it is time to put them outside. I'll buy something bigger in the next few weeks.
DeleteHI Horst!! Thats a German name...my halfbrother has it. Its a she. We have 5 of them. Hunting dachshunds. She escaped last night and hunted a roe for 75 min at leas. It was dark when she got tired and found us waiting for her. SHes only 1 year and not trained yet but sha has strong hunting lines. My homepage www.lindsjo-taxar.se, only in swedish just now
ReplyDeleteWow, 5 hunting Dachshunds, they are tough little dogs. So English is not allowed on your site? Or maybe just written in Swedish. Blogger has a translator, so no problem there. Yes my name is German, I was born in Germany. We immigrated to Canada in 1953.
DeleteHi Horst, good luck with your seedlings, it's too cold here to get anything going, unless indoors or a heated greenhouse, but I've had a load of Geraniums delivered from Jersey, courtesy of my daughters for Mothers day, I shall harden them off for about a fortnight then cross fingers and put them in their new homes afterwards. Thanks for dropping by, I've just been so topsy turvy since Crufts, but hopefully will soon get back on track. Take care of YOU XX
ReplyDeleteMy seedlings that I planted for my veg garden I think will have to come inside this weekend. They threaten storms and when that last happened all my seedlings got washed away!!! We have a green house in pieces but it is not going to be up in time. I just love these DIY jobs that have such complicated instructions!! Hope your seedlings do well. Diane

DeleteHi Diane, I'll keep them in pots until the May long weekend. I'll just have to keep them inside for a while.
DeleteSounds like you are quite ready for Spring. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm ready Tim, but it is still a little too early to do much outside.
ReplyDeleteHi Horst, it's always so hopeful seeing tiny sprouts pop out of the soil. I bet you'll do great with them. Your amaryllis are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSeeing those little sprouts emerge upward from the soil is always a delightful sight. You are going to have a beautiful garden this spring, Horst. A most stunning image of the lovely amaryllis!
ReplyDeleteWonderful to see you grow plants from seed Horst...
ReplyDeleteHey Andrew, I have about 50 Amaryllis plants that I grew from seed that I propagated from this White Amaryllis and my Red Amaryllis. I still have the Red Amaryllis as well. It is fun to watch them grow.
DeleteWe have a dusting of snow her up North . Its pretty and we need it . So glad to see you stop by.
ReplyDeleteI heard its 27C in Winnipeg. I wonder if thats right. Happy Sunday my friend.
Many thanks for your warm words on my blog :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Horst. I will take the warning with thanks.
ReplyDeleteGood Luck Horst you indeed have green fingers, sometimes this does happen . Past experiences with your beautiful plants, I'm sure they will be ok.
ReplyDeleteSheila well done.
