On June 19, yesterday I went to the x-ray Doctors office and got a x-ray guided shot of cortisone in my right hip. This was the first time to get one of these, so I didn’t know what to expect. I really hate needles but anything to help get rid of my hip pain. My Dr. said that the pain is sciatic nerve pain, so this is a test to see if that is what it is. Well they got my on the x-ray table and had me lay on my stomach, which I never do and was quite uncomfortable. So the doctor explained what he was going to do and started the procedure. well the first needle was a pain killer and that was not to bad, the next needle was the dye they use and it was a little more painful, the last needle was inserted in 4 or 5 locations to find the right spot. Well, when they finally got the right spot it was quite painful then they injected the Cortisone, I felt the deepest pain I have ever felt before even though they had given me the pain killer injection. Thank goodness it didn’t last long. Today as I write this I still feel the hip pain, not that bad but it is still there. What I have noticed is that the knotted muscle near my kidney is easing up, and I can walk a little better. The doctor said it will take a couple of days for the injection to take affect. So hopefully this will be a success. On a lighter note I am showing you a few more photos from my garden.
My Red Amaryllis has not bloomed yet this year, so I hope they bloom this summer, or maybe this Christmas.
The flowers are lovely Horst.
ReplyDeleteBefore I had back surgery I went through the shots in the hip. I know first hand that they are very painful. The nurse told me at the time that she had seen grown men pass out from the shots. I never had anything to deaden the pain just suffered with it. I hope you feel better soon.
Wow Beth, no pain freezing shot. Oh man I feel for you. That must have been rough. You take car of yourself.
Deleteloving all your lovelies from your garden Horst; it is a joy to see new flowers. Today is our Winter Soltice, the shortest day of the year. Hope your cortisone helps you out real soon too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Carole, The shortest day of the year for you down under. My friend Darlin, Just got back from down under and is having fun (not) with the season changes. Your lucky that you don't get our cold weather that we get on our shortest day. Take care and enjoy your weather.
DeleteSorry to hear that the hip is a problem and a I hope this procedure helps. Great flowers even thopugh the weather has been uncooperative.
ReplyDeleteHey Red, I take things as they come, I don't feel sorry for myself. There is pain but I don't dwell on it. I love life to much. The hip that I had replaced is not the one that is giving me pain.
DeleteHorst, I do hope that injection will help you. Thanks for all those beautiful flowers. Your orange pansies take my breath away!
ReplyDeleteThose Pansies are beautiful, aren't they. When I bought them only one flower was blooming. It took 3 weeks of Sun and fertilizer for them to get that way.
DeleteHorst, I sorry to hear that you need to take the cortisone shots for your hip. Anything to do with the sciatic nerve is very painful. I hope it helps and you do not need another shot for a very long time.
ReplyDeleteLove all your beautiful garden flowers, and compositions. Each and everyone done to perfection.
Take care and I hope you have a wonderful summer, and many more Beautiful photos to share.
Dianne :)
Thanks Dianne, I love to grow and photograph flowers. I wasn't sure if people (my blog friends) were getting tired of my flowers. I also found the beginnings of a Tomato on my Tomato plants. Looks like my pruning is a success. I have to get a taller pole for my Tomato's. I found the right size pot for my Tomato's and it has to be black, as Tomato's are heat lovers, that and make sure they don't dry out or get too wet, because drainage is very important.
DeleteI think I got carrued away with my last reply to Dianne. :-)
DeleteHope your pain is soon a memory Horst.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers, as always.
Thank you Keith. We'ii see how things turn out. It's still early.

DeleteHello Horst,
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful flowers and vibrant colors I see. Orange roses and violets and beautiful forms. Peony and wild rose.
Too bad you do not Amarylis has flowered. Just try again next year.
Greetings, Helma
Hello Helma, it is still early yet. You never know with Amaryllis. I do know they will bloom around Christmas after a good rest.
ReplyDeleteI've only had one shot of cortisone in a joint..that my shoulder and while it helped a LOT the pain of dislocating my shoulder to put the shot IN was tremendous. He broke the needle the first time and we had to go thru the dislocation process a second time. No pain killer. This was the old days, the 70's.
ReplyDeleteHad a tragedy right after I took that photo this morning of the tomato plant. A major branch broke on its own what with the weight. It was standing great just a few hours previous..but it broke. There are 6 unripe tomatoes that will die.
Hi Carole, the tomato's will ripen on the vine so don't throw them away. The rest of the plant will grow on as long as there is still the outer bark or skin on the trunk of the main tomato plant.
Deletegorgeous gorgeous blooms Horst. I am sorry to hear about your hip pain, and hope that it eases soon so that you can continue getting out and about and bringing your images to us. Have a wonderful week and thank you for stopping by my blog to say hi!
ReplyDeleteHi Jill, I don't let the pain stop me. I am in the garden almost every day.
ReplyDeleteToday I picked a full garbage bag of weeds, and will have to pick another patch of weeds tomorrow. Those weeds grow faster than I can pick them. Will also do some splitting of Siberian Irises in the next few days.
ReplyDeleteOh it was not small you had to go through .. Now, we really hope that the cortisone will help you
ReplyDeleteAbsolutly lovely photos of your garden! I have heard that the cortosone shots are are rather unpleasant, hopefully some of your pain has eased up a bit.. : )
ReplyDeleteHello Horst!
ReplyDeleteFirst, wow! I love your floral images. Your gardens must be the envy of your neighbourhood.
Second, oh no! I know first hand about the pain you describe. After exhausting many types of treatments I underwent two spinal surgeries within a one week period. I had two herniated discs and an unstable lumber that was fused and additional rods put in two provide stabilization.
I still experience daily pain, but at least now I am able to get out and take photos for shorts periods of time.
You're one tough dude! Don't give up.
Thanks Daniel.
DeleteGorgeous photos of your garden Horst, I love the summer for taking flower photos, if only it would stop raining here.....lol
ReplyDeleteHorst you flowers are just beautiful. I hope by now your hip is feeling better. I have heard those cortisone shots really hurt.
ReplyDeleteHorst, I think that this is sciatic nerve and you will soon will have a relieve from pain. Please, do whatever doctors suggest and you will be better. Please, don't despair and remember that recovery from hip surgery takes some time.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are fantastic!!! I hope that you already feel much better when I am writing this comment.
