Today I was going to go out and get a few items from the store but low and behold, I woke up to a blizzard, nothing else to do but stay home and cruise the net and oh yes take a few shots of those little critters at my home made feeder. Seems to work well and the Sparrows have not figured out how to use it. I was surprised that the Chickadees were active on a day like today, so I just had to take a few photos through my window. We have had snow every day for 3 days, so far. But today the wind was gusting at 30 klm’s an hour. Lots of snow drifting and the news say that there are lots of accidents and people in the ditches. The police say for people to stay home and not drive anywhere if you don’t have to. I hope everyone stays warm today. Well here are some photos.
The last photo I lightened up so you could see what our little bird
was doing.
Very nice photos. It sure looks COLD!
ReplyDeleteLove seeing your photographs as always.
Great photos Horst. I love to watch the birds.
ReplyDeleteOh those poor babies have to be cold! But thank goodness they have you and your feeders to help.
ReplyDeleteI try to put food out for the birds when the weather is like this. I will put some more out in the morning.
ReplyDeleteThat looks so cold there Horst. Amazes me how the animals and birds survive such terrible weather.
ReplyDeleteWell Kieth, it is cold here, the birds and animals are used to the winter weather here. They thrive in it, but some of the week ones may not make it till spring. This is the land of the fittest. The Chickadee is one of the smallest birds that stay the winter and needs to eat everyday to stay alive, so I help them with my feeders.
ReplyDeleteI love this last one. Hes hanging on in the wind waiting for his turn at the feeder. I had a blueJay and maggpie at mine today just as I looked out the window and then they were gone. Great shots. I still cant get the little buggers. When its not so cold out I may have to sit outside with my camera and wait.and wait.
ReplyDeleteHave a great night and stay warm and safe.
This last one is so sad really . Poor little one but I know he will thrive. They do. It takes a lot of strenght in a little bird. Wow .
ReplyDeleteKeep feeding them. I do too.
Hi Horst, you sure have a lot of snow. We just have a dusting of snow where I live in Ont. You can still see the grass. You can send me a little of your snow if you would like. Not too much though. I am hoping for a white Christmas and only have a week to go.
ReplyDeleteNice to see your photos of the little Chickadees.
I also wanted to stop by and wish you and your family, a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
Dianne :)
Lisa, the little guy in the last photo is eating a Sunflower Seed. They grip them with thier feet and break off bits and then swallow the pieces. They always do this, they are fun to watch. I refilled the feeders today and they were yelling at me to hurry up, Tweet tweet. :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Dianne, and a Merry Christmas to you as well.
ReplyDeleteI am SO glad you enjoyed the dinner. (((HUGS)))
ReplyDeleteOh poor thing! It looks so cold out there! I hope the chickadees and you! stay warm :)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!!
Beautiful photos:) Marry Christmas !
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness it does look cold there! I'm always amazed at how birds brave any weather. Love the homemade feeder! I may have to try that myself.
ReplyDeleteBlessings Horst...
